Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin, the orangun of Oke-Ila Orangun in Osun State and a close friend of the Adeleke family, has expressed his sorrow over the sad demise of singer Davido’s son.
Additionally, he mentioned that Davido’s late mother, Late Dr Mrs Veronica Adeleke, saved his own son from drowning, but no one was there to save her grandson.
“Amen and Amen. So sad, it was David’s mummy, Late Dr Mrs Veronica Adeleke that rescued my own son inside the swimming pool, some twenty-five years ago.
I am sad, about what Veronica did for my son years back, nobody, I mean nobody to play that same role for Veronica’s grandson, Ifeanyi!!! Who are we to query God, may his soul rest in peace and may Veronica’s soul continue to rest in peace. Fantastic woman!”
On Tuesday (1 November), the Lagos State Police informed BBC Pidgin that the child had passed away following a Monday incident at home (31 October). The BBC in the UK has since confirmed the report.

Ifeanyi who was born in 2019 was said to have been underwater for a very long time before being rushed to a hospital but was sadly confirmed dead on arrival.
