Jacqueline Gold Bio

Jacqueline Summers Gold CBE was the executive chairwoman of Gold Group International, Ann Summers, and Knickerbox. According to estimates, Gold was Great Britain’s 16th-richest woman. The Sunday Times Rich List estimated the value of gold at £470 million in 2019.

After receiving seven years of breast cancer treatment, Gold passed away on March 16, 2023.

The daughter of Beryl Hunt and businessman David Gold, Gold was born on July 16, 1960.

Sex publications were first available on British high streets thanks to her father’s publishing company. David is said to have sobbed when his first wife, Jacqueline, was born because he desired a son.

She and her sister, Vanessa, grew up in Biggin Hill, Kent, in a huge three-story home with a sizable yard and a swimming pool.

She was the primary interviewee for the second edition of the BBC Radio 4 series The Home I Grew Up In, which included her describing a difficult childhood, in August 2007.

When she was 12 years old, her parents divorced.

Gold and her younger sister Vanessa participated in the justgiving.com charity moonwalk at London’s Hyde Park in May 2007.

A Gold-employed babysitter was accused of attempting to poison the woman with screenwash in December 2010. Three counts of providing poison with the purpose of agitating were brought against Allison Cox, the person who was looking after Gold’s kid.

Cox was sentenced to a year in prison in March 2011 after pleading guilty to intentionally administering poison. On October 5, 2010, Cox allegedly laced two bowls of asparagus soup with screenwash in an effort to embarrass the chef who served the food.

After a previous unsuccessful marriage to a dancer from Ann Summers, she met Dan Cunningham, a money trader from the City, in 2002. Dan was seventeen years her junior.

Three failed IVF tries later, on New Year’s Day 2006, the couple announced their separation.

Soon after the couple started dating, they began their first round of IVF, but the fertility procedure was unsuccessful. There were two additional failed attempts.

They briefly split up in the early 2000s due to the treatment’s physical and emotional rigors.

As they reconciled, they decided to try IVF once more, this time in America, and they became pregnant in 2009. After seven years of attempting to conceive, Jacqueline, who was by this time in her late forties, gave birth to twins, Alfie and Scarlett.

Alfie, who had been getting round-the-clock treatment for the fatal illness known as alobar holoprosencephaly, was born with a serious brain defect and passed away at the age of eight months.

Being a mother is the greatest honor and joy, as Jacqueline Gold once remarked while describing her strong relationship with her daughter Scarlett, now 14 years old.

After several failed IVF treatments, the CEO of Ann Summers and her husband Dan Cunningham finally became pregnant and gave birth to her in 2009.

Scarlett and her twin brother Alfie came in May 2009, however Alfie tragically lost his life at the young age of eight months due to a severe brain injury.
