Lil Nas X apologized to the trans community after making a social media joke about transitioning. On March 14, the rapper admitted in a tweet that his initial statement was mistaken.
The image of a woman who resembled him with the caption “The operation was a success” and a heart emoji was the punchline of the joke. It was later taken down.
“Apologies to the trans community I def handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not cool,” Lil Nas wrote in his apology. “Much love to you guys. sorry.”
However, some fans were still not impressed as one of them responded and said his “fake” apology wasn’t enough. To that, Nas X simply wrote: “girl eat my ass.”
