Armed soldiers said to have come from Michel and Burma Camps entered Taifa on March 7, 2023, just one day after Ghana’s Independence Day celebration, and attacked the locals.
The brutality came after the murder of a young soldier named Imoro Sheriff, who was killed on March 4 while being accosted and returning from the home of a female friend. Nonetheless, the police have detained six individuals who are currently being held on remand and helping with investigations.

184 people were detained by the troops during the raid on Ashaiman, and they transported them to Burma Camp. Days later, 150 of them were released before the remaining 134.
