King Promise, a musician, claims that after being nominated for multiple accolades at the Vodafone Ghana Music accolades (VGMA), he was encouraged to skip the ceremony.

He claimed in a TV3 interview that he had refused to leave the scheme despite advice to do so out of respect for his supporters and other music lovers.

“Even with the VGMAs there were times where I had advice from people who were like ‘cancel it, don’t go again’. People say a lot of stuff, it’s up to you to make what you think of it.”

King Promise stated that he knew it was not the fault of his fans he was not winning awards because “when I drop the music it goes crazy, so, I know the fans do support me.”

He said that “I always went still and performed, even when I didn’t win, I go the next year to perform, It’s about the fans for me.”

King Promise noted that he would not stop making entertaining his fans just because he lost out on a few awards.

He added that as a result of his resilience and love for fans, he won two awards at the 2023 ended VGMAs.

Meanwhile, King Promise finally won an award after his subsequent snub in the industry at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) with the Best Afropop/Afrobeat Artiste of the Year.
