On February 10, 2011, Blackmore won her first race as a novice jockey when Stowaway Pearl, trained by Shark Hanlon, triumphed in the Tipperary Ladies’ Handicap Hurdle at Thurles.
After riding seven winners as an amateur rider and eleven point-to-point winners, she became a professional in March 2015. At Clonmel on September 3, 2015, Hanlon’s Most Honourable, who was trained by her, became her first professional victory.
She was the first female conditional riders’ champion in Ireland in 2017.
Blackmore rode in the Grand National for the first time in 2018. The Mickey Morris-trained horse she was riding, Alpha des Obeaux, started out at 33/1 but fell at the Chair fence on the fifteenth attempt.
She won the Chase Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase in 2019 with A Plus Tard, becoming the first female winner of the Cheltenham Festival. After that, Minella Indo won the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, giving her her first Grade 1 triumph.

No onlookers were there to see Blackmore’s historic victory because to COVID-19 regulations. After the race, when questioned by ITV, she stated: “Right now, I can’t tell if I’m male or female. I hardly feel human at all. It’s incredible “.
