One of the most well-known representations in the Holy Bible of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is undoubtedly the crown of thorns. The crown Jesus wore represents Christ’s greatest humility in exchanging His heavenly crown for a lowly crown of suffering and shame, maybe more than any other kind of physical anguish he underwent.
The Roman soldiers mocked and shamed Jesus Christ as the “King of the Jews” as they placed a crown of thorns on his head on the morning of his crucifixion (Matthew 27:29).
The crown Christ wore serves as a reminder of the scorn and humiliation the King of kings endured for those He came to save. He forsook His rightful crown of glory for a crown of suffering and shame, in addition to the excruciating pain caused by long thorns being forced into the skull of an already bloodied and beaten Jesus Christ.

The Crown of Thorns In The Bible
The term Crown of Thorns is recorded to have been mentioned four times in the Holy Bible. Each other record of the phrase is covering the same account of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
Matthew 27:29: “and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.”
Mark 15:17: “They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.”
John 19:2: “The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe.”
John 19:5: “When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, ‘Here is the man!’”
What Does The Crown of Thorns Symbolize?
The kingdom of Jesus, according to Pilate, is not of this world but something more valuable and special. “Hail, King of the Jews,” the soldiers yelled as they wrapped a purple robe around Jesus and placed a crown of thorns over his head as we can record in John 19:2-3. They did this in order to denigrate and insult Jesus.
They used it in their fruitless attempts to degrade the mightiness of Christ because it stood for the majesty and royalty of a king. They were unaware that Jesus was giving up his life to save the world in accordance with the desire of his Father.

Where Is The Real Crown of Thorns?
The artefact was brought to Paris by the French monarch Louis IX (St. Louis) in the year 1238, and the Sainte-Chapelle was constructed (1242–1248 AD) to house and keep it safe.
The thornless remnants, which survived a horrific fire sometime in April 2019 that damaged the church’s roof and spire, are housed in the treasury of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
