Christianity is a personal relationship with God. People can pretend to be true followers of Christ but only God can see through the heart. Because people can pretend a lot, the Bible says in Matthew 7:21-23 that he will send a lot of people from his Kingdom on the day of judgement. So, what did Jesus mean by depart from me I never knew you.

Meaning of Depart From Me I Never Knew You
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness’” (Matthew 7:21-23).
A lot of people will be shocked on judgement day. People who profess to be working for God but inwardly living a worldly lifestyle will be abandoned by God. It is not just okay to preach the word of God, and it is not just okay to go to Church but obeying the laws of the kingdom of God is also very important.
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12)
As Christians, we must obey Christ and not hide anything in our hearts. We must choose either between God and the devil. We cannot worship the two.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (Revelation 3:15)
How To Abide In Christ
If you do not want to be disappointed by God in the last few days, then the following should be done.
We must let our light shine: As Christians, people must see our deeds. We cannot pretend to be Christians in the church and devils in our homes. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matt. 5:16)
Love Your Neighbour: Love is the greatest commandment in the Bible. As Christians, we must love and help those around us. When we do this, we obey God’s commandment about loving our neighbour as we love ourselves.
We must bear good fruits: Christians who are filled with the spirit of God must bear good fruit. In Galatians 5:19-21, the Bible says Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
