This is also mentioned in Matthew 13:21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

The Bible mentions that those who accept to be followers of Christ will face tribulation. Stephen was stoned for his faith in God. Peter and the other Apostles were all killed. Today, Christians may not face this type of tribulation but in another form.
