Tarryn Thomas is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Thomas was born into a family of Indigenous Australian ancestry in Sydney, New South Wales (Kamilaroi and Lumaranatana). He was recognized as a junior fullback prospect after growing up playing rugby league, and as a result, he joined the Penrith Panthers development academy.
Thomas moved to Launceston, Tasmania, at the age of 12, where he started playing Australian rules football for the Prospect Hawks and later the North Launceston Bombers.
When he won the best under-16 and under-18 player awards at their respective national championships in the same year in 2016, he created history.
Thomas was a member of North’s Next Generation Academy and was selected by North Melbourne with their first pick and eighth overall in the 2018 national draft (NGA). He finished his education at St Patrick’s College in Launceston.
