According to John 3 in the Holy Bible, Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Jewish ruling council who approached Jesus in the middle of the night with their worry. Nicodemus was given a response that future generations of Christians would keep to themselves.

So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

What The Bible Says About Nicodemus

Nicodemus warned a group of disbelieving Pharisees in John 7:50–51 against forcibly taking Jesus. Also in John 19:39, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea work together to give Christ a customary Jewish burial after he has been executed. A mixture of around 75 pounds of myrrh and aloes was delivered by Nicodemus (John 19:39).

In John 3 in the Holy Bible, Nicodemus acknowledges that given all of Christ’s miraculous deeds, God had to have sent him. Jesus responds with a resounding truth that gets right to the point: “…no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3).

Nicodemus queries how somebody could be born twice, thinking both physically and otherwise as we can record in John 3:4. Jesus goes on to explain to Nicodemus the significance of being born of the Spirit as the conversation proceeds (John 3:5-8).

Nicodemus then asks, “How can this be?” (John 3:9). Christ used an Old Testament parable in Numbers 4-9, which a Pharisee was sure to have heard previously, to explain how to be born again and enter the kingdom of God, lamenting that Nicodemus cannot seem to understand such a holy notion (John 3:12).

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him” (John 3:14-15).

John writes the God-motivated verse:
